Aloha! My name is Chelsa Davis and I am the owner, founder and most importantly, formulator of Ao Organics Hawai‘i. I am a Native Hawaiian woman born and raised here on Hawai‘i Island, who grew up with a love and deep respect for our wai (ocean) and the ‘āina (land). My Mo‘olelo (Story)
After becoming a new mother, I made a greater effort to be more health conscious and aware of what I was putting into and onto my and my family members' bodies–something I'm sure many new parents can relate to.
Being an ocean-loving family, we spend most of our family days at the beach, playing under the sun. Sunscreen has always been a staple in our beach bag. In 2016, when I was pregnant with my third baby, I took a deeper look into the ingredients listed on the labels of the food we at and even the products used. When I started to learn how toxic the sunscreens we were using were, with their harmful ingredients and chemicals, we completely stopped using them. At the time, it was challenging to find a brand we could trust that was 100-percent organic in stores. That's when I stepped into my kitchen and started making my own. With my whole heart, I am grateful for each of you for all the aloha (love) and kāko'o (support).
